Read Psalm 53:1-3, 10-13
1 God, have mercy on me because I’m being trampled. All day long the enemy oppresses me. 2 My attackers trample me all day long because I have so many enemies. Exalted one, 3 whenever I’m afraid, I put my trust in you.
10 In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise—11 in God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me? 12 I am under vows to you, my God; I will present my thank offerings to you. 13 For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.
Good morning! Whenever we’re afraid, we can put our trust in God.
I am sitting in the quietness of the early hours of the morning thinking about how God has led me to a new life. There have certainly been some moments of fear along the way, but I have never been alone during this journey. God’s love and mercy surrounds me and There have been so many angels placed to guide me along God’s path for me. I cherish each moment as the Holy Spirit prepares me to lead others so that we may step out in our walk of faith together.
David endured many moments of success and many challenges on his journey. From his facing Goliath, to his anointing as the new king, through his reign as the earthly king of the Israelites, David shared his life with God. This sharing is evidenced in the Psalms where he shared his greatest struggles and his glorious praises to the Lord God. David understood that without God, he was a small shepherd boy tending the sheep in the field. Only through the power and strength of God could he lead a nation.
We each are called to our unique role in the community of faith. Sometimes we are asked to step outside our comfort zone and trust that God will provide us with what we need. 19 My God will give you everything you need. He has wonderful riches in heaven because of Christ Jesus. 20 Praise God our Father for ever. Yes, he will do it. 21 Please give my greetings to everyone who belongs to Christ Jesus. The Christian brothers who are with me greet you. (Philipians 4:19-21 NIV)
When we feel alone or afraid, we must reach within our souls and reconnect with our Lord through the Holy Spirit. God promises to be with us always. Even when we turn away, God is there with arms of forgiveness patiently waiting for us to turn back to him. “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ (Isaiah 41:10 NIV)
Through Christ alone we are saved and graciously given eternal life. Man cannot take this away from us, the children of God. 13 For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.
Loving and Caring God, Thank You for loving us. You are our creator and you continue to care for us every moment. Even when we turn our backs on You, You are there with us waiting for us to return. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen
Thought for the day: In the midst of my fears, I will trust God.
God is always with us! Pastor Liz
